On July 8th an attack by 43rd (Wessex) and 15th (Scottish) Divisions was launched to extend the bridgehead over the Odon towards the Orne, which the 4th Amoured Brigade supported, though Churchills of 31st Armoured Brigade.
This attack got no further than the outskirts of Evrecy and to Maltot with casualties being very heavy particularly round Hill 112 and Maltot, with the latter being eventually abandoned.
