The 2nd Platoon, A-Comp., 291st Engineer Combat Battalion with Corporal Fred Chapin blew up the bridge over the Lienne on which Kampfgruppe Peiper was unable to push to the Meuse. By this the goal (Antwerp) was no longer feasible and the Germans had to withdraw from that moment.
