On 19 August 1942 British and Canadion regiments attacked Dieppe. Commandos succeeded to climb the rifs beside the city of Dieppe and were able to conquer a number of cannons. But the actual danger of guns within Dieppe overviewing the landing area were not captured. 6100 allied soldiers joined this campaign. More than 3500 of them were killed woounded or captured.
