The German 4th Panzer Division mounts an attack in the southeast of the suburbs of Warsaw but is beaten off. The German command believes that almost all of the Polish forces have retired east of the Vistula but in fact fresh units from the Poznan Army and part of the Pumorze Group have joined together around Kutino. They now begin a counter-attack over the Bzura against the German Eighth Army. The battles which follow will be the hardest fought of the campaign. For the first two or three days the Poles gain some succes.
