18 Infantry Regiment (USA) landing at Omha Beach (Easy Red)
Turningpoint in the battle for Omaha Beach.
A LCT-30 and a LCI(L)-544 went through all German defences of the beach near Colleville, shooting at about everything they saw. They attrackted attention from other batteries. 2 torpedoships approached the coast at less then one kilometer near Les Moulins and gave heavy support fire. With bulldozers in front the 18 Infantry Regiment was able to attack German bunkers. From that moment the desaster on Omaha Beach did change in a positive way.
