99 Infantry Battalion (Separate) (USA) moved to Cherbourg day 6

On the 29th day of June the unit moved to St. Joseph on the Cherbourg Peninsula and the following day entered Cherbourg. Here for the next nine days the unit was attached to the Fourth Port Headquarters and helped secure the city. After Cherbourg had been secured the unit helped guard various military installations against possible sabotage from by-passed German troops or regular saboteurs.
