On the Division's left flank efforts continued to clear roads of mines so that the 117th Cavalry could strike northward toward Pirmasens.
To accomplish this Task Force Coleman was directed to attack and clear the enemy from the Division's left flank to the Althorn-Mouterhouse road. AIthough it met no enemy resistance, the task force was able to advance only very slowly through the dense woods and mountains and it was not until the following day that the unit reached the town of Mouterhouse. Meanwhile, A and B troops of the cavalry unit attacked northeast to Mouterhouse on foot. Patrols entered the town, but were met by small arms and mortar fire and withdrew to high ground southeast of the city.
