On 1944-06-06, Pilot L D Kidd (Pilot Officer, RCAF) with servicenumber J/85175 flew a Spitfire IX with serial MJ339 for this duty: Patrol. His mission was not completed. Circumstances of the aircraft loss: Crash landed in Normandy. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 602. The location for the map is Normandy, France. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Kidd: he died, but circumstances of death are unknown. There is no commemoration location known.

Chris Allen: On your site you mention Pilot Officer Kidd of 602 Sqn RAF being shot down over the D-Day beaches.
My uncle George Llewellen Baggett (known as Lew) was flying with 602 on the 7th June 1944 (Spitfire LO-Q) and saw Kidd shot down over the Omaha beachhead. A section of his flying log is attached.
