On Sunday, 08 March 1942, (a part of) the aircraft of the 83 squadron (RAF), took off for a mission to Essen in Germany from a station (airfield) in or near Scampton.
One of the crew members was Flight Sergeant W D Biltcliffe. He departed for his mission at 22:50.
He flew with a Manchester (type I, with serial L7426 and code OL-D). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Monday, 09 March 1942.
