Description

The 22nd Armoured Brigade was to move from east of Verden, towards the south of Bremen, with 131st Brigade secured Bassum and Twistringen. The advance went well with 5th RTR taking Syke, only 14 miles from Bremen. Meanwhile 1/5th Queens encounter the 20th SS Training Division at Sudweyne and Kirchweyne, 5 miles south west of Bremen and a short and very bloody battle ensued, with a number of prisoners taken.
